Freelance job sites are a dime a dozen. The downside to these sites is the fact that most run on a bidding system and are saturated with millions of people looking to network for online jobs. With persistence, experience, and a good portfolio or resume, you’ll soon land a job and build a reputation. The holy grail of freelance is to find an individual who will have more work for you in the future.
Forums are a great way to participate in discussions relating to your personal abilities and experience while being exposed to online job opportunities. Many online forums have a buy/sell/trade section that lists a large volume of opportunities that pay quickly. In addition, this activity allows you build a reputation and rapport online while building your personal resume and portfolio.
There are many companies who built their reputation offline such as Disney Vacations, 1-800-Contacts, 1-800-Flowers, General Electric, Jet Blue, and many more who pay representatives to perform customer service duties from the comfort of the home. Many offer bonuses based on being bi-lingual or willing to work weekends. The requirements are a landline telephone, a computer, and most require that employees reside in the United States.
In addition, once in a while a gem like chacha.com will come along. ChaCha is a search engine that is seeking to compete with Google’s algorithms by having humans search and hand-pick the answers to incoming search queries. They call these employees Guides and pay them per question answered. You won’t get rich, but it’s possible to subsidize your income with this internet job.
In conclusion, most of these jobs won’t get you rich, but it’s a great way to use your spare time to supplement your current income. If all goes well, you may just find yourself quitting your day job to pursue one of these great online jobs.
